With great success and significant participation, the one-day event entitled “Supporting Sustainable Development through Basic Research” was successfully concluded on Monday, 15 December 2025. During the event, the main results of several research projects were presented, including the Plastic2Fuels project, which was implemented within the framework of the action of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) entitled “Funding of Basic Research (Horizontal Support of All Sciences)”, under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0.”.
The event took place in the welcoming auditorium of the Science Dissemination Center and Technology Museum – NOESIS, with the participation of research teams from leading academic and research institutions in Greece, including CERTH. The event started with a welcome address by the Director of H.F.R.I., Dr. Katerina Kouravelou. In her address, Dr. Kouravelou highlighted the pivotal role of H.F.R.I. in supporting research and innovation in the country, as well as the importance of funding basic research across the full spectrum of scientific fields, from applied engineering sciences to social sciences, humanities, and the arts.
The Principal Investigators and members of the research teams presented the identity, objectives, and key results of their respective projects.
